Arvigo Therapy®

Arvigo Techniques Maya Abdominal Therapy® (ATMAT) is an external massage technique that guides internal abdominal organs into their proper position (with a focus on aligning the uterus) for optimum health and well-being. Maya massage improves organ function by releasing physical and emotional congestion from the abdomen. This improves the flow of chi and fluids of the circulatory, lymphatic, and nervous systems to prevent chronic disease. Dr. Rosita Arvigo developed this technique after studying extensively with her mentor, Don Elijio Panti, a Mayan Shaman from Belize, and Hortence Robinson, a Belizean midwife. The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® combine modern science with traditional healing and wisdom to produce a holistic path for physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

How can ATMAT help with fertility?2019-12-19T19:51:00+00:00

ATMAT for fertility is a program individualized for you which may include abdominal massage, diet and lifestyle modifications, herbal tonics, faja (support belt), vaginal herbal steams, and relaxation techniques, including meditation. Abdominal massage helps to free and diminish old adhesions from invasive treatments or traumas to the pelvic and abdominal area, including fibroid tumors, endometriosis, cesarean delivery, abdominal surgery, infection, or trauma. It corrects uterine malposition and promotes ligament healing, improves the blood flow to the pelvic organs, and can improve the uterine lining. The ancient therapy of Maya Abdominal therapy focuses on root causes, both emotional & physical, to allow the body to heal itself and optimize fertility.

I’ve had a hysterectomy. How does ATMAT help?2019-12-19T19:50:32+00:00

Women who have had hysterectomies also benefit greatly from ATMAT. The techniques improve circulation in and around scars and assists proper flow of lymph, which often becomes blocked after surgery and results in swelling, burning, and deep aching pain in the pelvis. By utilizing uterine massage techniques on a regular basis, scar tissue can be prevented from forming in the pelvis after surgery. Ligaments and other remaining organs also benefit by improving circulatory flow to the pelvis.

Do you do scar tissue work?2019-12-19T20:07:49+00:00

Yes, Scar Tissue Remediation (STREAM) is offered in conjunction with all other treatments.

What problems does STREAM solve?
  • Scar tissue remediation works to resolve pain related to:
  • birth, abdominal, pelvic and reproductive surgeries
  • biomechanical, postural, and physical imbalances
  • biochemical imbalances including bladder, gut and reproductive issues
  • gender reassignment surgeries, cosmetic genital surgery, and FGM.

These include but are not limited to bladder, cervical, uterine and rectal prolapses, Cesarean scars, interstitial cystitis, vulvodinia, vaginismus, episiotomies, birth tears, prolapse repairs, genital reconfiguration, and plastic surgery.

How does STREAM work?

Scar tissue remediation work happens in a one-on-one setting with a qualified practitioner. The work includes hands-on manipulation, trauma counseling, client education about self-care protocols, support for lifestyle and nutritional changes, along with active relaxation tools. It takes all of these elements to remediate and manage scar tissue, minimize inflammation to discourage its proliferation, and engage the nervous system to change one’s relationship to pain. Clients experience healing at the root level.
