Arvigo Therapy®

Arvigo Techniques Maya Abdominal Therapy® (ATMAT) is an external massage technique that guides internal abdominal organs into their proper position (with a focus on aligning the uterus) for optimum health and well-being. Maya massage improves organ function by releasing physical and emotional congestion from the abdomen. This improves the flow of chi and fluids of the circulatory, lymphatic, and nervous systems to prevent chronic disease. Dr. Rosita Arvigo developed this technique after studying extensively with her mentor, Don Elijio Panti, a Mayan Shaman from Belize, and Hortence Robinson, a Belizean midwife. The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® combine modern science with traditional healing and wisdom to produce a holistic path for physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Many women report immediate relief from symptoms following a session. For others, it may take longer for their bodies to integrate the changes. I will work with you to devise a personal plan of care that will support your body’s journey to wellness and help achieve long-lasting effects.

Scar tissue remediation works to resolve pain related to:

  • birth, abdominal, pelvic and reproductive surgeries
  • biomechanical, postural, and physical imbalances
  • biochemical imbalances including bladder, gut and reproductive issues
  • gender reassignment surgeries, cosmetic genital surgery, and FGM.

These include but are not limited to bladder, cervical, uterine and rectal prolapses, Cesarean scars, interstitial cystitis, vulvodinia, vaginismus, episiotomies, birth tears, prolapse repairs, genital reconfiguration, and plastic surgery.

How does STREAM work?
Scar tissue remediation work happens in a one-on-one setting with a qualified practitioner. The work includes hands-on manipulation, trauma counseling, client education about self-care protocols, support for lifestyle and nutritional changes, along with active relaxation tools. It takes all of these elements to remediate and manage scar tissue, minimize inflammation to discourage its proliferation, and engage the nervous system to change one’s relationship to pain. Clients experience healing at the root level.
