I've been in Kenya for 10 days now. It's been a totally different experience from the last time I was here.  When I was in Kitale in 2012 I lived out at InStep Children's Home. This time I am staying in Kitale at a guest house and taking public transit out to InStep every day.

Absolutely Unforgettable Day

The last two weeks have been nice and chill, not a lot to write about. Last week, I helped deliver three more babies. And my mama with sepsis was finally released from the hospital. I saw her and her baby on Wednesday and they both looked great.

A Trying and Crying Week

On Monday, I went to the district health office in Luwero to speak with a child services officer about how I could help Nyambalu, the mama with sepsis that I have been working with at Kasana hospital. Her husband has asked me repeatedly to take the baby and I told him I couldn't.

Full Moon Crazy

It has been an intense week! Last Wednesday I went to Kasana to help out but it was very slow. When I arrived, there was a mom and dad with their one-week-old baby boy. The mom had a c-section and it was infected, and baby was sick and not eating.

My First Births

This morning I went to Kasana District Hospital, the government funded hospital in the village we live in with Emma, the volunteer midwife. Emma has been going once a week to help out and to deliver babies.
